Our Friend Paul

Created by John and Iris 3 years ago

Paul was a true friend of ours, a mine of information combined with superb technical knowledge, amazing manual skills and a font of vast amounts of general knowledge which he was so happy to share with us on numerous occasions.  He possessed tremendous enthusiasm for everything he encountered and was never happier than when he was problem solving.  Recently John has really enjoyed their 'Friday Gardening Mornings' together having shared many in-depth discussions on how to grow the best vegetables, whilst at the same time putting the world to rights.  One of Paul's most proud achievements this year was the production of his own compost mixture which was often referred to as 'Paul Innes 2020'.

Paul was very proud of Lismore's beautiful garden which was due to his and Coral's combined hard work, superb design, planning and attention to detail.  He took great pleasure in being able to tell visitors the name of every item they had planted, often giving the date of planting and referring to their Latin names.

On our recent 'Tuesday Techie Mornings' round at our house, Paul has had vast amounts of patience with both of us whilst helping to improve our outdated (and sometimes non-existent) IT skills - we often wondered what he went home and told Coral! Afterwards however, he loved having lunch with us and the words "home made soup", "Marmite", "Pork Pie", "Spam" or "Cheese and Pickle" would make his eyes light up and bring a huge smile to his face.

We miss Paul's presence very much but he will be happily often remembered by us for the sparkle in his eyes, his beaming smile, infectious zest for life, knowledge and wonderful sense of humour.  We will never forget his sci-fi and morphing quizzes for our gardening club get-togethers.  Thank you Paul for your friendship - it was both a joy and privilege to have known you.

Much love from John and Iris Whitaker
